Open source solution for Lawrence Township

The partnership between the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township (MSDLT) and LightSky began more than six years ago when the district needed new public websites and a robust intranet system. The outcome of the initial project has served the schools and their constituents well, and now the district has revamped its Web presence and added even more powerful online tools.

LightSky worked with the district to update the design and implement a content management system (CMS) -- Drupal -- to better enable district staff to update the site and to take advantage of the open source community’s work. The sheer number of modules developed by the Drupal community provides the district with an abundance of tools to enhance their websites as needs arise; LightSky also builds custom Drupal modules when necessary to achieve specific functionality.

As a Web development firm that began as a custom development shop and has evolved into a firm that creates custom and open source solutions, LightSky is enthused about the possibilities that open source options like Drupal offer. In cases like MSDLT, Drupal provided a way to align the functionality, timeline, and budget and yielded a wonderful result. We’ll be posting a white paper to share more specific information about our work with MSDLT and their Drupal implementation, so check back soon for the details.
